Dare to Move Family Fitness: Making Every Monday Magical

Mondays have become extra special for families attending our Sport England funded Dare to Move Family Fitness sessions at Monkton Stadium. These classes are a way to keep active, but most importantly they are about confidence, engagement, and fun for children of all abilities.

One parent shared this about her 5-year-old, who is currently undergoing an ASD assessment:

“The instructor has been incredible. She remembered my daughter’s interests, suggested activities she loves, and made sure she felt included, even when she felt anxious. My daughter didn’t participate fully every week, but she still wanted to be there.”

Our staff's creativity, patience, and warmth make every child feel supported, engaged, and excited to join in, even if it’s just a little at first.

We’d love to see more children enjoying these sessions! Local families and schools, come along and experience the fun. Your child’s next favorite activity could start here.

Contact us or join the next Monday session at Monkton Stadium and Tuesday session at Jarrow Focus!

Bringing Dance and Wellbeing Together at St Margaret’s Centre

Our ongoing dance project at St Margaret’s Centre in Durham continues to provide a creative and supportive space for adults living with mental health needs. The sessions, led by experienced dance instructors, bring together a variety of dance styles, from traditional ballroom to Latin dances like cha-cha and samba, as well as social dances such as line dance, swing, and jive. All steps are adapted to suit individual abilities, ensuring everyone can participate confidently and enjoyably. Thank you to Point North for making this project possible.

Kids Together! finished

As Kids Together! just finished, we want to express our heartfelt thanks to Sport England for funding this impactful journey. Over the past 40 weeks at Fawdon Community Centre, we have had the privilege of working with two wonderful age groups—5–8 and 9–12-year-olds—delivering creative physical activity sessions that encouraged movement, inclusion, and joy. The enthusiasm and growth we witnessed in the children each week have been a true testament to the power of community-led sport. We are incredibly grateful for the opportunity to make a difference, and we’re proud of all that’s been achieved through this project.
